Hi,
I maintain a Officeserv 7200 unit for the company I work for and am largely a novice with it. Its running firmware V2.63 and is mainly using digital keysets for regular office use, although an MGI card is installed to allow softphone access. We have some IP Softphone licenses, but since the client software does not work on our primary operating systems Linux, MacOS and Windows Vista they are not well used. I'd really like to enable remote VPN users to use SIP softphone clients to login as extensions when they wish. It appears from the options in the OffServ Manager app that it should be able to work in this manor.
I have reviewed most of the posts in this forum relating to SIP access, and realise that SIP support is theoretically unsupported by Samsung, going to be licensed soon, not guaranteed to work etc. However I see the functionality in there and am keen to use it still. I have not yet found any posts or documentation thats had enough details to allow me to complete the required configuration. I have fiddled around have just not pieced things together quite enough to make it work. I have the SIP Server enabled via 837 and can see via a network monitor the SIP REGISTER requests go in and 401 Unauthorised responses coming back. I am obviously not configuring the extensions correctly to allow them to login via SIP. Is anyone able to explain how to setup SIP extensions or point me to some material that may help?
As a side note I have read the Softphone Vista compatibility discussion
here and now see the
new version appears to support Vista. However since my firmware does not support this new softphone version, and is otherwise not broken I see no reason to upgrade it just to get the new softphone working that still does not support Linux or MacOS.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
