I know Algo makes the "Aux Box" for nortel products - allowing a PC hardware interface for recording calls, relay closure during a 'set event' like off hook or DND, has anyone come across this for the Samsung?
I have a customer looking for a "in a call" relay closure for a 7400 with DS5000 and ITP5100 sets.
So far all I've managed to come up with is modifying the set and using the light on the tilting display as an interface with an opto-isolator to detect when the light is on.

Any better ideas or products?

I did the same thing. I needed this for a radio dispatch in a public safety building. I couldn't find any thing, so I programmed a DS key for the phone I needed it on on itself. Then fron the LED I used a diode to isolate into a DC amplifier to drive a small relay.

We originally thought of that however the DS light comes on when the phone rings also. (our integration is also for a radio dispatch interface for headset use between radio and telephone together).
We then thought of using your example on the call key itself (site has a PRI so call key would always be lit for outside calls). But the phones have 4 call keys each which would flash when a call was put on hold, causing the headset to toggle with each light pulse - the input would have to go into an 'OR' gate to drive the output when ANY call key was lit.

To counter the mw light on the tilting display we put non linked mailboxes on the phone with a mw key on a dedicated key instead of the display light flashing with a message.

I think i made a mistake in getting the model of optoisolator i did - PVA2352N which can handle the current (150ma) from the radio unit for switching detection, but the opto sensor is bi-directional - meaning it detects current in both directions. The display light is 2 colour... So the unit still triggers for incoming calls (which are green light lit) where as it should only trigger on red colour (set in a call). I may try a different optoisolator and see if i get more success with the 'in-call' status.

The site used to have Norstar - which used an audio detector to toggle the headset. On the Norstar, the speech path was turned off when the set was idle. Not so in Samsung, TDM sets always have speech path... With that in mind, we tried an ITP phone since there is no speech path when the set is idle. Problem is there is no side tone, the audio detection circuit only detected the far end... If they were quiet, the circuit switched back to radio.
