On our 7200 installs we have had odd problems with PRI channels going in and out of service, or dropping into 'out of order.' After tinkering around, things seem to work out. We've been told on the 7200 (by the telco-Integra) not to use CSUs because they conflict at times with the newer NIUs they use.
Are people still using CSUs like the Atran CSU Ace on their installs?
On a sidenote - I think I am posting wrong, but when I click on the link for installers it says I don't have permission. If someone could clue me in on that point, that would be great. :p

I'm new to Samsung products so I don't know if they have a built in CSU or not. If not then where would your test point be? A CSU allows for a loopback test to be done and separates the circuit for other tests.

We use a Adtran ace on real Pri circuits. On the Ivad (Intergrated voice and Data) circuits we do not use them.

My opinion is always use a csu. If the provider is putting out a circuit that conflicts with a csu. I can only imagine what would happen when they are talking to a naked tepri card. Telecom is on the money as well but for a different reason. If the provider is supplying an integrated circuit the provided CPE should have a csu built in anyway. The total access has a built in csu so there is no need for one attached to the system. As for installer access you will need to request permissions HERE Then you can go in and post or read up

Thanks WRichey!
The PRI at our last job is a straight-in, no integrated voice/data circuit - so there is no hardware at the site betweeen the NIU and the 7200 TE/PRIa card. I think I'll install an Adtran CSU ACE out there regardless of what the telco tech advised and see how well it runs ...
