Hi Guys,

I manage a samsung idcs500 system and in one of the open areas where there are about 13 people sitting i have some users that are too lazy to pickup the handset to make a call and use the speakerphone. This irritates other people trying to make phone calls in the surrounding areas.

We have tried talking to the users and it's not working so i was asked if it was possible to completely disable the use of speakerphone.

I went into mmc 300 and turned off the microphone but since they only use the speakerphone to dial out it did not solve the issue. Is there a way to fix my problem?

Thanks.

Not sure if you can disable the speaker in that way but another way around it would be to turn off 'Hot Keypad' in MMC 110 on an extn basis, this would mean they would have to pickup the handset before they could dial.

Sounds like a management issue instead of a phone tech issue. Other than that what Samsung Tech NZ said

Or set the phone into headset mode. Then they can't use the speakerphone

Quite simple, open up the phone, unplug the microphone and take it away.

The phone will still ring and voice announce.

I believe the problem here is not the handfree microphone but rather the dialling being done handsfree.

Remove the Spkr key from the set, then disable 'hot keypad'. No speaker key, no hot keypad, no way to dial offhook.

Hey guys,

MMC110 did the trick for me. My problem is not them using the speakerphone in true conference situations but being too lazy to lift the handset before dialing thus creating environment noise.

now with the hot keypad off they will have to lift the handset or use their headsets if they want to call.

Thanks a lot !!!
