Alternately you could have the call overflow to MBX 503 and rather than forward the call to MBX 204 put a MW 503 button on all the stations that would need access to the messages that might be there, saves space on the flash if forwarding to lists would otherwise be done.

Ok, I knew about that one - so it doesn't play CID info and such, but I thought it still announced if the message was auto forwarded.

It only removes CID/date pre-message. You are hereby reduced to #4. I am the new #3. Unless you solve this equation  .

So record the group mailbox name as a second of silence as well.

Ok, why not go to the menu block. Station forwarding, go to the page for pointers (page 3 I think) create an entry for 503 to forward to mbx 204 and your done. No need to change timers or any other functionality of the VM. You might need to create the same entry for trunk forwarding also.
