the same pri with did . I ring group 500 and then try to overflow the group to the voice mail group. what i get is a prompt for a password rather than the menu prompt. Is there a way to do this without having to go to a full blown auto attendant?

Paige, the voicemail guru here, says you have the wrong input. The vm thinks you are calling mailbox 500. Make sure there is no mailbox 500.

Will PM you with other instructions.

I think the problem you are having is related to the SVMi 4E not being setup to take a message on mailbox 500 from default..But I'm not sure what you're trying to do?When it overflows do you want it to go to a auto attendant menu?Or a mailbox?

Send all did calls to 501 and overflow to vm and delete mb and ext for 501 and then it should play prompt 1001

Exactly what bmreen says. The overview is
If a call overflows from a group ie 500 if there is no 500 group extension or mailbox then the call will overflow to the main greeting. So it really depends on if you are using the 500 mailbox or not.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't 500 always the operator group and by default the SVMi creates 500 as the operator extn, therefore you would do as bmreen says.

I have to agree with bmreen.

From my experience you cannot erase mailbox 500.
When you do the voicemail system rebuilds it.

I always use group 501....
