I have just connected a music on hold source to a office serv 7200 via MIS1 - The volume level is fine but the music is a little distorted particular at low musical notes (voice over is fine).

The sound source is a Stageline DP120 MP3 player which has phono out which I assume is at line level - I have made a lead to connect to MIS1 terminals. There sound source has no volume adjustment but volume is OK it is just distorted? - Anyone any idea what impedance / voltage is required to drive MOH into the office serve 7200 or what I can do to sort the problem.

What lenth of lead have you made also did you use screened cable to make up the lead
If rember 600 oms and is not power driven have you put your test butt on lead to see if any distorted believe about one metre lead is what you need if possable

The lead is no longer than 1 metre and is made of 1/2 screened cable and half Cat5 path cable (cat5 patch cable used as needs RJ45 plug to interface with the 7200 MIS connector. Any other suggestions /checks I can make?

Thanks for your replies - Have checked cable pairs and MISC card is firmly seated but still the same. I feel the problem must be with the impedence / signal output from MP3 player. I can't see any adjustments I can make to the phone system via office Serv which affect volume etc - not sure if I need a pre amp or something?

Success. After trying all they above with no success - I then processed the MOH MP3's via some Free audio software and put them through a high pass filter of 200Mhz to cut off the low bass - Now sounds great now with no distortion. The MOH MP3's where downloaded from a site selling them as MOH MP3's with voice over so I am sure others will have the same problems with these recordings!
