I'm finally going to toss the SVM-400 I have working on an early model DCS-16.... I have had it to King twice and it will only be nice for a few months and then goes bonkers. I am able to default the maching and have it work for a few weeks b4 it forgets how to answer a call and routs everyone to box 500. Every SVM-400 I have been associated with has been nothing but headaches. MY QUESTION: Is the Comdial Debut the same one as the old Key Voice Lite? and can I still buy a new one with instructions on how to set it up for a Samsung? Any better Ideas out there how to get rid of a 400 with something that will work. I'm just using it for 2 ports to service 3 lines and 4 stations.
Thanks
Joe Wilkerson

Telekol has an affordable small voicemail that works well with the Samsung. I cant recall the last time comdial worked with the Samsung. With that said. Any analog voicemail will work on the 616 but you may have to tweek it a bit.

i have seen the Aleen connected to a 616. I had a customer remove a 616 w/ the 2 Port Aleen for 6 RCA 4 line Telephone. Just because the looked pretty.

Have you checked into the price comparison of upgrading the 616 R1 to a R2 and using an SVMi-2E? All of that would have to be refurbished since the 616 and SVMi-2E are manufacturer discontinued.
What type of phones are you running on the 616? If they are the iDCS / Falcon series there may be some other options within the Samsung line.
I would agree that the SVM-400 is problems.

Might be worth upgrading to a 7030 or 7100 instead of throwing money at the old kit

Thanks to all that replied. The customer is 3 lines and 3 phones in a small office. An equipment upgrade would be a radical expense for them. I think I will go with a new Aleen for $475 and be done with it. It looks like King in Tenn is only giving 90 days on any VM repair. Seems hardly worth repairing anymore and have it take a dump in 91 days and look like a dummy to your customer.

SVM400 was the Edsel of voice mail systems, It came and went pretty quick. Can't say much for the 616 system either. I'm guessing Samsung realized this product was a real dog and dicontinued it in a hurry.
