Please be gentle I'm not a telco person... My company has a Prostar 816 Plus, we have a T1 coming in to our facility of which we have 3 lines dedicated to our phone system via analog handoff. I recently purchased a starmail 2 port with the 816 card. I can figure out the programming part of the system but my more immediate concern is how to connect the hardware... any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the starmail has the digital card you terminate to digital stations. The analog card terminates to SLI ports

If you have the 816 Plus it will interface via
keyset ports (not single line).

You will need manuals for both the 816 Plus and the Installation/programming manual of the Starmail.

That is correct, there are (2) different port cards
that install in the Starmail.

They are the same ports you plug your phones into
on the side of your control unit.

What is the purpose of having both ports of the starmail unit connected... can I get away with just having one connected (we're just using it for voicemail). Secondly I have the manual however when I enter the programming number on several features I get an invalid number error... any ideas?

More than one call to the voice mail at a time.
Ability to set indicators without interrupting normal message retrieval.

Remember caller = 1 port used, user = 1 port used, messaging = 1 port used. With that I like 3 or 4 ports not just two.
