I have a customer who does not want to have to dial 9 or hot a line key to dial out. But the problem is that when she picks up the handset and hits a DSS button and hangs up it tranfers the line it picked up. Is there a way to turn that off?

I don't think so, you are basically doing an attended transfer. We have a lot of people who switched from a partner system that do not like the samsung for that matter but they get used to it. *Tell them to press the DS key before they pick up the handset.

Yea I just told them that it's just better to dial 9 and go with it. Change, it happens.

I have a few customers like that, you can set the hot line timer to a few seconds to give them the option to push a DS key, or, as Genesiscom said, tell them to push the DS key before lifting the handset.

Why not set up LCR. They may not get a dialtone but they wont have the mistake of a line transfer

LCR is a good idea.
With my customers who have asked for this I tell them that if they dial an extension or press a DS button that they should dial it or press the button before they pick up the handset. They get it as soon as you show them why.
It's always a new staff member that calls....

Try paging with hot line activated, fun stuff. I tell people right up front that they have to dial a 9 on this system, no real way around it.

I set this up a few years ago on a 500 for a nursing home customer of mine.
If its a iDCS or later then you can use the network lcr in the dial number plan.
Just put your local/std/idd codes in the table, then in network dial translation just put the same entry in, then do you lcr tables are per normal and away you go.
Just gotta make sure their extension range doesn't conflict with a real world phone number.
