Hi all, I have a DCS Compact system that is suppose to be set up for CID but its not working. I have the RAM2 and a MISC 2 card, the system version is 2.6, VMS version 1.3, MMC XXX, XXX, and XXX are all programmed properly, however when a call comes through the display reads"no CID DSP, call for 500". The phone company has verified that caller ID is set up on the line. Am I missing anything? By reading most forums, I realize now that the DCS compact system does not seem to be very good.

EDIT: Please do not post tech level programming in the general forum.

There are two things you can check. Get a single line phone with call display and put it on line 1. Call in, does it work?

If not, call the service provider.

If so, go in to system timers. Look for CID Timer and change it from 5 to 7. I find that usually works for me.

As far as looking for where to change it, it has been a while since I have don it, so I don’t remember for sure where in programming it is but I'm pretty sure it is in system timers.

Thanks for the reply. I tried changing the CID timer to 7 seconds and its still not working. I've already had the phone company out checking the caller ID. It works fine on my fax line which is directly hooked up to the phone company. The other 2 lines that I have go into the DCS box and thats probably where the caller ID signal gets lost. I paid almost $1000 to get the right cards and system version to get caller ID and I still dont have it. Very frustrating...

Why isn't your dealer working on this problem?

Last time I had this problem it was the misc2 card. I could reset the system and it would work for awhile then start flaking out intermittently.

I just had that MISC 2 card installed. It apparently worked on another system before I got it. When I reset the system, is it simply just turning the switch on and off, or should I reset the system through the MMC XXX? Actually, I cant even access XXX for some reason. Will restarting the system through XXX erase all the stored programming?

Marc, to answer your question. My dealer doesnt know why the CID is not working at this point. He can only help me through phone support and to be honest, I really think he doesnt know why it is not working. Thats why I am trying to get help elsewhere.

Am I reading this correct... your dealer has not been on-site?

I haven’t spent much time on the older systems, but from what I remember… you also need a EXPN-A1 card in the system for the Caller ID to work. This card is required even if your system does not have any expansion cabinets.

Yes, unfortunately my dealer has not been on site. He's about 800 miles away. Is the EXPN-A1 the expansion board? I have a SVMI-4E card in the EXP 1 slot and EXP2 and EXP 3 are empty. It also has a 4COP and 2SLI card. I have a feeling its just missing something in the system. Thanks for your help.

I would suggest contacting a dealer in your area. As far as the EXPN-A1 card, I was wrong because that is for a different product line.
