2 things to look for. The ringer volume for the phones is a slider on the right side of the phone. Easy for someone to turn it down without even knowing it. Second thing to check is if any phone has the Mute/DND button lit. If so, turn it off.

What model of Samsung 816. Is this a steel creme-colored cabinet with STC PROSTAR 816 on it? Or is a newer model? What is the model of phones on the system??
It's interesting that your name is "dyingbatt" because that may be a problem with your system. If it's old enough, and the system was without power for a short time---then the system may have gone back to default settings due to the fact that the memory battery is dead.. Depending on the system, there may be only one phone ringing--the 4th station port.
If you can, get the model number of the cabinet and the model number of one of the phones. That will narrow down things a bit.

Well, its a Samsung or STC Prostar, then. Depending on what particular system you have, the model number and name were usually fairly evident on the front of the cabinet---but try looking on the bottom. I think the sides were just part of the front cover. Is this a steel flat, light colored cabinet about 3 1/2 ft tall and maybe 18 inches wide? It appears that you have a system that was either sold in the early 90's or in the late 90's/early 2000's. At any rate, that battery is ten years old or older...what would a car battery work like in ten years?? I thought "dyngbatt" was "dying batt"--now I see it refers to Edith Bunker.
