What is recommended for a doorphone (no opener) on a SS7100?

Any Viking doorphone work?

Does it require any special consideration?

Does it need to be on an anolog port?

Yes, I am retired - so why am I still working on phones?

Well... you could use the Samsung door phone module.

I'm not familiar with any of the Viking units, but if they work off analog ports then they should work with an OS7100 with an analog station card.

I like the Samsung door phone and DPIM module. Its easier than trying to monkey with a third party device. Since it runs off a digital station you dont have to worry about installing a SLI card if they already dont have one.

Just my 2 Cents.

I also like the Samsung door phone. The integration works really well, and they are much cheaper than the Viking / other CO/analog port integration.

The only thing i don't like about the Samsung door phone is that its a 1 press button (i know you can program the destinations on a ring plan or day/night basis), not a keypad, and the DPIM relay can't provide power only a dry contact, but otherwise they are good phone.

The Samsung door phone is a very cheap door phone (direct quote from Samsung tech support) which works well for basic installations where there is a wide open space. It doesn't work well where the enclosure is small or lots of background noise or very sound - reflective construction. The units do feed back on themselves pretty easy.

We have found that if you open the door box unit and put a piece of scotch tape over the mic grill portion it really cuts back on any feed back from the weather or surrounding noises.

FONEFXR, Scotch tape is an amazing trick that works on a variety of microphones. I usually prick a pinhole too!
