I think I'm missing something. I want to know how to program a button on the keypad of my 24 button phone. The button would initiate a loopstart trunk and allow the user to dial out. I thought it was as easy as going into mmc 723 and assigning it a DT key with the trunk number. But when I press the buton nothing happens. I don't know what I'm missing.

Try programming the key for your extension instead of all 24b handsets and see if that works.

Go to the MMC and choose the specific phone extension you want to set the DT key. Assign the button as a DT with the extender being the trunk number (701 or which line has the phone number you need for that key.
