Anybody use wireshark network analysis program to troubleshoot sip trunks? Running into a few issues on the 7000 series platform, and don't like leaving it up to the provider or IT guys.

What issues are you having? I have used it to verify voice quality before and after the router to see if I am getting go audio before it hits the system. This will only work with G7.11 codec though.

I’m working in Samsung support team and always use it for VoIP troubleshooting. Wireshark (Ethereal) it is very powerful and useful software. It is strongly recommended for solving any problems with any kind of data and voice transmission.

How do I set up capture to filter what traffic from port 5060 is hitting my switch(7100) and getting out to the sip provider? I had a problem with the 7000 series not sending a register request every 3 minutes. Broadvox captured my option request, but the customer was set up for register request. The fix was to upgrade the software and change them to static option request.

Make sure you have a HUB or a managed switch with port mirroring set up or you will never see any traffic on the network except for your traffic.
