I have a customer with email gateway set up on a 8e. It has been working fine for a while but now about every two weeks the email gateway quits working. The voicemail works fine but no emails. When this happens I can't log in via the LAN port. I was able to log in via the serial port and everything looks normal. The vm is trying to sent the email. We have to reset the vm to get the LAN port working again and then the emails start working. It sounds like a bad LAN port on the card but I thought I would see if anyone else had seen this problem before I send it in since it is not under warranty any more.

Just a thought can you ping the voicemail card you might have put the lan details back into the phone or the customer might have same i/p address on another piece of equiptment

I have a couple of sites with the same problem. Only happens only once every 3-6 months so I have customer reset the svmi card and that corrects problem. These are both 500 systems by the way.

I have the same intermittent thing in a 500 system as well, I found that the SMTP port 25 I was using was being blocked for relaying on a few outside services, so I switched my SMTP port to 2525 on my server and changed it on the Gateway, and haven't had a problem since..

I also, have that 500 system setup to "restart" after maintenance everynight, so we always have a fresh running system each morning, which works since they are only a 7-8pm business

I am going to set up the voicemail to reset every week to see if that fixes the problem. The network guy has checked the IP address and said everything is good. This is on a 500 system as well. Thanks for the idea sam.

There was a fault with early SVMi8e cards todo with the lan port, there was a mod, but I have 1 site with the same issue.

I think we ended up replacing the card as they were under maintenance.

Didn't even think about the reset at maintenance
