We have an OS500 system. I am getting reports that at least 3 times a day there are calls coming in where the callerid displays "1" and it is just "dead air". They claim that that it has not been as annoying as in the past because they used to pick-up the call and hangup about 20 times in a row before it would stop. As of right now, they are only having to pickup and hang up once.
My initial thoughts were someone was mis-dialing but I have received reports that this occurs at night when only the cleaning crew is around and "nobody" is using the phones.
Thanks.

Is the system on the network? I have seen calls come in on the network side and do strange things.

Bobby - It sits outside the internal network. We are using VoIP gateway card for extensions that are at remote locations.

What trunk number does the call come in on? You may want to search through the VM activity log and see if you can locate one of the calls.

Have seen something similar on OS7100. no caller ID is displayed and people answering calls get dead air. repeat callers have stated that they can hear the call being answered. CO Lines are being derived through a gateway device fed by fiber optic. the gateway device also delivers their internet and Cable TV Service. If memory serves me correctly, we actually caught the failed call and were able to verify that the caller ID and caller audio where not making it out of the gateway. This is an ongoing problem that we have only seen on this CLEC and this one 7100 system. The CLEC is capturing packets before the call is converted to analog in the gateway device. I have not heard whether or not traces of failed calls have been captured or if they have, what has been determined by them. One point that might be worth mentioning is this system probably has a higher volume of calls than the other Samsung systems that we service in this same area.
