I have to replace my SVMi-20E card because it keeps dying on me. My question is, is there an easy way to backup the database from one card and import it to the new one? Or is there more to it? Also, what it the default IP address of this card?

Our current voicemail card has an automated system attendant, will importing an old database work seamlessly with the phone system or is there extra MMC programming to do?

As always, thanks so much for the help!

To back up the SVMI you must use a FTP client software to retrieve all of the file. You can get the ip address from the vm by going to port activity and typin "net" and press enter that will display the ip for you. Once you get the files you can ftp to the new one and put the files back in place.

There is another way if you have a drive caddy to plug in to the smvi 20 hard drive. You need to copy the mbx dta pmt msg folders only

Shut down the vm to the c prompt You need to get to the sockets directory by typing cd sockets.
Then type ftpd to enable the ftp.
Then use FTP commander to connect to the Vm with it's ip and user=** and the password=**.
The copy the Dta Msg Mbx Pmt only

Please,no posting in the public forum of passcodes.

The SVMi-3 series have a backup and restore mode option from the menu.
Shut's down the vm and launches the FTP server automatically.

There is only a handfull of files in the dta directory (tbl files) that you need to copy

In the pmt folder you only need to copy the custom prompts you have recorded (1xxx.pmt) rather then the whole dir
