we have a particular issue that we are attempting to resolve. the situation is as follows:
we have 2 separate company "entities" in the building, with one officeserv7400 and about 16 lines. one half of the lines are for Company A and one are for Company B. they are restricted within the system so that B Cannot bickup A's lines and vice versa so that the companies are charged for long distance etc appropriately.
however, when a customer calls in to company A and dials an extension for Company B (the companies are related to each other and customers sometimes dont know about company B's phone number) or are transferred to company B's line by A's operator, only the person's phone on the extension can answer it, it cannot be answered by 65+xxx or Direct Pickup button. it says "You can't access the line".
example: Customer calls 888-888-8850 which is Company A's #, and dials extension 218 for a worker in company B. the user for 218 isnt at their desk, so their coworker attempts to answer it, both via pressing 65218 and using the direct pick up button on their phone, and it says "You can't access the line".
they need to be able to do this as they are in an ordering type environment. previous phone system was able to perform this.
what needs to be done? thank you

I think you need to allow the calls to be answered by any extension on the system but you need to restrict dialing on each others lines. It can be done. You just need to set the correct tables. It sounds like you know where to look.

Try using the Group Pickup if there in a group. There is an item in extension side programming that you can enter which group each extension belongs to. I think it's 66xxx, not 65. Out of the iDCS manual: To pick up (answer) a call ringing in any pickup group, lift the handset and dial 66 plus the desired group number or press the flashing GROUP PICKUP key if available. If that doesn't work go with what Bobby said.

What bobby has said is what needs to be done. Gpick has the same restriction as stn pickup, in that the extensions have been disallowed to answer that line
