I have a client with a Samsung iDCS-500 v2.44, 500L 2 cabinet system.
They have about 42 employees.
They are adding a new office across the street, and I'm thinking of putting in the MGI - VOIP card for them and set the iDCS-500 as the SIP.
I have no MGI cards installed at this time..
I do have a static IP I can use for the Phone.
What equipment/cards do I need to setup VOIP on this phone system.
I understand the need for VOIP desk phones and I have access to various vendors for the desk phones.. I can program these VOIP phones without pretty easy now, as I have been doing VOIP's phones for about 3 years now.
What MGI Equipment do I need for the iDCS-500 phone system to provide them with this service.
Thanks for any info

Hi,
I would not recommend trying any IP or SIP solution on an OS500 Rel 1 system.
You need Rel 2 as a minimum (V4.x sw) for this to work.

Hi,
Just re-read my reply.
On a REL 2 system you need V2.76 (not V4.x)

3rd pary VoIP handsets are not supported on the iDCS500 R1 or R2.
You will have to use the proprietry samsung IP Phones, and the "old style" ITP-51xx phones.
You can do SIP Trunks on the iDCS500 R2, but its a bit painfull

Thanks for the input... I will update the client to the newest v2.76 or higher, I will get that from Samsung.
I'm gonna try this with what we have..
I have ordered a MGI-2 / 16 card and will put it in next week when it arrives..
Other than IP phones... do I need any other equipment or license for this to work?
Thanks for any input

Since its a 500 and it doesn't support the new SMT series, there is no license for the phones.
You will need a license for the sip trunks however
