We use hyper terminal to connect to SVMI across the network via IP address to port 23. We have noticed on a couple of our systems that port 23 will stop listening. Giving us a standard "unable to connect to port 23" message. We restart the SVMI and are able to connect fine. We properly exit out of the sessions to the status screens and use the disconnect option in hyperterminal to exit. Does anyone know what may be causing this? It locks up randomly and has to be restarted for reconnect.

No the network is all Cisco and the connection is internal only. We don't manage the phone system from outside the network. So traffic never leaves the private network. (Example: We put the hyperterminal on the Computer Techs computer on the same network as the phone system.)

I have this issue with some SVMi20e's and not others, I havn't been able to pin down what the issue is either, as the rest of the VM works fine. I would like to check whether the SIO works when the LAN doesn't and what the output of a status is, but everytime I have this its remote.

I had something similar today, went onsite and found that when i used the "net" command in port activity it showed another address connected to the svmi. A reboot disconnected them and allowed us to remote in...just a thought

Try connecting your laptop directly to the system to rule out a problem in the local area network. You may need to use an Ehternet crossover cable but a straight-thru cable may also work if either port has auto-sensing.
