Hey guys,

After 2 long years I am back in the business. I have already run into an issue. After downloading the latest Install Tool from GSBN I installed it on my lap top and tried opening it.

I get a run time error 339 that I am missing COMCT332.ocx in the registry.

I tried earlier Install Tool versions and get the same error. Device Manager works fine as well the old Officeserv Manager. I downloaded Device Manager off GSBN and OffServ from CD.

My lap top is, unfortunately, running Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2. It is 64-bit

Has anyone else either had or heard of some one who has had this issue? I've checked everywhere online with little luck. I've downloaded registry repair software from CNET and checked mssupport already. Neither was any help.

Thanks.

Just download that file, copy it into your c:\windows\syswow64 (and maybe the c:\windows\system32 dir as well) and then run the following from a cmd prompt with administrator rights

regsvr32 comct332.ocx

you should get a popup box saying autoregister successfull and then it tool should run fine.

nameless,

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that and still no dice. It said that I was successful after performing the regsvr32 but I am still getting the Run Time error.

I am beginning to think this is because the lap top is 64 bits. I went and got a usb to serial connector so I could connect to the SVMI's and when I plug that in and try loading the CD, it says 64 bit is not supported. Same thing happened when I downloaded some registry drive software to try and fix the comct332 error. It also did not support 64 bits.

Try and see if Windows will let you run IT in 32-bit form. I know sometimes that will make a difference. After you did that regsvr32 did you uninstall and reinstall IT tool? Sometimes that will make a difference. It's the new windows that is killing all of our program capabilities with all the new junk they have put into it.

Biztel, I did do that.

I ended up calling Samsung. They said that Windows 7 with 64bit is working. They also said that they hadn't heard of anyone running Vista Home Premium with 64 bit so that didn't help.

All of this is a moot point now. The company got me a decent used one with XP. So I am more than happy. I just want a platform for work and have no desire to do anything else with it.

Thanks for the suggestions. They were appreciated.

You are probably aware that Samsung has a new programming interface for the 7000 series and will probably phase out IT tool. DB Manager.

Not a lot of experience with it yet, but the SVMi programming on the embedded systems; 7030, 7100; 7200s - so much faster and easier. No more waiting on web page reloads, etc.
