What is up with the slow booting process of the 5220 phones vs the 5210s? About four minutes. The 5210 set boots 4x-5x faster. I wore my finger out holding down the * button on the 5220s . Connected to a Netgear POE switch at one job the 5220s took over twelve minutes to boot. I looked at the version numbers at this last job and they are V2.12. GSBN is down, not sure if that is the latest or is a newer version would help.

No one has seen this?
Just installed a bunch of 5210s today and that fast boot was refreshing.

I see the same thing. Make sure you are billing by the hour for the install.

Another thing we noticed. The 5210s have bright and clear displays, the 5220s do not and adjusting contrast does not help.
Here's a tip though:
Set the font to the Yoon font + LCD Power saving to 00:00 23:59. The font is thick and bold, readable from across the room and the backlit stays on all the time - makes them much better phones.

The 5220s are being (have been?) modified to have a backlit LCD display like the 5210's and 5230's

I understand that the LCD power saving feature was added to help prolong the life of the LCD panels. Running them on full brightness all the time will reduce their life. This is specially true of the colour panel in the 5243.
Use the power save timer to 09:00 - 17:00 (or whatever the working hours are) and do not run the backlight overnight.

The average LED backlight is rated at 60,000 hours, which is 2500 days or 6.8 years. That's running it every day, 7 days a week, for 24 hours a day.
It must cost $.000000001 per year in power, but I see your point. 6am to 10pm at least then.
