Recently I had an existing system where the automatic day/night switching had ceased to function. I asked the customer to manually switch it for a day while I got the newest software release and researched some more about it. So I upgraded them to 4.53c (MP10a) and changed the SCHEDULE TABLE settings from (which I thought was an okay method, although I know the manual says not to delete the System_Auto):
1. Select SCHEDULE TABLE from the Admin Bar. 2. Click the ADD button.
(Default: Mode: Ports: All ~ All Date: 01 – 01 Start: 12am)
3. Change to: Mode: DAY MODE Ports: All ~ All Weekday: Range of Days Start: Time that business is open
4. Click SAVE & EXIT 5. Repeat Steps 2-4 to Add the NIGHT Schedule Table or any other Tables necessary. Mode: NIGHT MODE Ports: All ~ All Weekday: Range of Days Start: Time that business is closed.
6. Delete all other SCHEDULE TABLES
This is what I have been doing and it has been working. I would think it would make sense that DAY would would with DAY MODE and NIGHT with NIGHT MODE BLOCKS. In this case I had to make my settings as so:
1. Select SCHEDULE TABLE from the Admin Bar. 2. Click the ADD button.
(Default: Mode: Ports: All ~ All Date: 01 – 01 Start: 12am)
3. Change to: Mode: SYSTEM_AUTO Ports: All ~ All Weekday: Range of Days Start: Time that business is open
4. Click SAVE & EXIT 5. Repeat Steps 2-4 to Add the NIGHT Schedule Table or any other Tables necessary. Mode: SYSTEM_AUTO Ports: All ~ All Weekday: Range of Days Start: Time that business is closed.
6. Delete all other SCHEDULE TABLES
With this configuration plus the software upgrade the system switches perfectly and the DAY & NIGHT MENU's actually switch along with the RP buttons programmed on the reception set. (Whereas before the RP buttons only affected the ring schedule).
SO..... since this worked here, why not correct it on my next call? Long story short, I attempted to make this change on another existing system (where they actually had no complaints). Upon changing my DAY/NIGHT SCHEDULE TABLES to SYSTEM_AUTO's the voicemail no longer switched automatically. So i reverted back. (older software on this one, I think 4.46d MP10a). Okay so why does that work on one but not this one?
At another client that was having some trouble with the switching (4.30i? MP10) I also was better off using my DAY NIGHT SCHED. TABLES I created oppossed to the SYS_AUTO plus had the manually override to NIGHT MODE in order to allow for the customer's RP buttons to take control and ultimately revert back to Automatic switching by closing time.
Having said all this what are your thoughts? How do you set this up?
In most cases all I need to a set schedule Mon- fri. say 8:00 till 5:00. Day & Night only.
Thanks!

You need to tell the vm what mode it should be in based on the ring plan for system_auto to work i would think (i have never used the schedule so im not sure) in the vm day/night mmc

Wow, right under my nose. In theory it sounds like this should do it. I will try this soon. Thank you!
