I have had limited results relaying customers email off of their ISP who is not their email provider. The ISP is typically Comcast. I make sure I have a valid SMTP IP address, port 587 and put the full Comcast user name, password and domain name in both MCLass and System Wide Parameters. The OS7100, MP10a v4.53 error log comes back with - SMTP Login Authentication failed with server 76.96.53.14:587. I had tried different variations and still no go. Does anyone out here have experience with Comcast SMTP?

76.96.30.117 if is a regular [email protected] account. For a Comcastbiz account use the following 76.96.107.77 if it is a [email protected] account. Port 587 Domain is smtp.name.comcastbiz.net

Comcast Security Assurance Department says that their system limits you to emailing 99 recipients per hour and 999 recipients per 24 hours. If you exceed this they block you from sending email for 24 hours and advise you of this in a bounce-back email. This policy is not publicized anywhere. Another SECRET RESTRICTION on their "unlimited" service.
If Comcast thinks you are abusing their SMTP server, they will change the SMTP server port and login method you must use. They will NOT notify you of this change.
Comcast's tier 1 tech support personnel know nothing about this. Call Comcast and ask for their Security Assurance Department if you want to know the (unpublished) truth.

Thanks for the information. I had continued to read that folks were deleting the email account at Comcast and then re-entering the same email account info and things started working so I tried it. It worked! I had the customer ping smtp.comcastbiz.net to get the "local" smtp site IP and I have been using port 587, user name is full email address, password and domain was name.comcastbiz.net = nothing UNTIL I deleted the account and re-entered it. Go figure
