When did Samsung change the 4 sli card for the 7100 to a 4 sl2u? What is the difference between this one on the old one.

I think it was sometime in December in the UK - other regions may vary.

From the info I've seen it's functionally the same, but with the following caveats:

THE 4SL2 MODULE IS ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH UNI CARD CPLD VERSION 05 AND ABOVE.

For manufacturing reasons one of the connectors has 4 extra pins, which are not required for normal usage with a UNI Card.
When installing the module onto the UNI card, locate the module as normal via the two white connectors. The module will naturally offset leaving the 4 extra pins disconnected from the UNI card. These pins are not required for any operation and can be ignored.

The 4sl2 is the same card used in the OS7070, hence the extra pins.

We are just starting to see these here, got a notification last year about the change.
Nothing about the cpld v5 though which is going to be annoying for upgrades of older os7100's

Not only do you have to worry about the uni version but you have to worry about main software level as well. At least here in the states we do.

We also haven't been told about a minimum software version.

What version have they said you need?

I'm going to guess 4.4x as it will be the most annoying due to the requirement of SPNET license.
