My former boss (who I still do some PT work for) called me today. A worker changing an expansion tank on his water heater drowned his Comdial 308.

I took a ride to his house and not only is the KSU wet but all the punch downs, line jacks and the power failure phone.

I think this was an N0308, does anyone remember what sets are compatable and would the sets work on a 816?. I have a few 816's collecting dust and would like to use them.

I had forgotten about this 308 that I installed he tells me 20 years ago. I did not think it was that long ago but the punch blocks have his kids names on the on the station locations and I went to the last of his kids weddings at least 15 years ago that's how long ago they have been out of the house.

Strange but the line keys still function so I unpluged it for 24 hours and will check back to see if the KSU still lives. Cannot kill the old comdials.

If we do not revive a comdial at his location does anyone have a recomendation for a good KSU Less system that can do 3 lines and 6 stations?

Would you believe AT&T 1040 phones? They go to 4 lines and 16 stations.

I needed a cheap temporary solution with 3 lines and 4 stations, for about a month while a doctor was moving offices. With speakerphone, hold, intercom and transfer features, they worked very well.

Just looked at the AT&T 1040 looks like a good replacment.

Then I had a horiable thought, The entire house is wired in QUAD. All home run but QUAD, did I say I did this 20 years ago, Crap

I hope I can make this Comdial live again, he is moving an a few years (how many times have you heard that) and wants to do this on the cheap. I just want to get it going for him and get out of dodge without spending a lot of time.

Will report back on friday after the 24 hour dry time.

Yea but after coming off the 1A2 systems with 25 pair the novelty of a system that could do all that on 2 pairs sucked us in. Only expected that the next systems would need 1 pair (was right on that one)

Never expected to go backwards and remove the KSU

Since you thought it was an NO308, I assume you have 67XX or 66XX sets on it. I have a working NO616 cabinet here, and just removed one 2 weeks ago that I know I could acquire. Still have of the NO308's running too.

You could put the 616 in, and all would be well. If you would like one of them, let me know. Just pay the FR8, and it's yours.

Russ thanks for the offer.

I went back today and powered it up and it works.

Was missing line 1 and 2 but I found a bad 2 rj11 onto 1 rj14 adapter. The pins turned green then fell off, guess it still had water in it and the 48 volt CO battery did it in.

It's hard to kill this old Comdial stuff, I still have a 1432 as a backup system at our dispatch center. It backs up an IP Office.
