I went out to an oilfield plant on Friday. The electrician had ran some Belden datatwist350, it was inside some very heavy armour, tek cable. The pairs were stuck together. Has any one else run into this? Is there an easy way to split and terminate? I'm glad that I didn't have to quote this. Thanks.

The pairs are purposely bonded together in the "Datatwist cable".I hate datatwist.I take my tweaker(small pocket screwdriver)and use it to split the pairs. Its a real pain but you can work with it.

Have to use Datatwist a lot unfortunately myself. I take the pair and place it way up on my snips near where you hold onto them (smooth round area), and pinch then with my thumb and pull the wire through. Usually on the first try it will straighten the pair out then you can simple pull the pairs apart.

We do a lot of data cabling at a local college that uses Belden DataTwist cable. Belden makes a nifty tool, Belden part # 1797B that splits the bonded pairs very nicely. Belden link: https://bwccat.belden.com/ecat/jsp/...efined&P5=undefined&P6=undefined You should be able to order this through Aniter or other supply houses the supply Belden products.

Just cut the two apart and then you can pull them apart after that. Just make sure you split them enough so you can cut the ends off.
