Where is a good place to rent Cat5e certifier?
I don't get enough requests to justify buying a certifier.

Hey BillyBob have you checked with any of your local cable supply distributers. I know around here most of them have a demo that they will rent out for a job.
If not https://www.trs-rentelco.com/ have always treated me OK.

Hey Billybob it sounds like me and you have been in the same boat lately.

I had a job last week that had to be tested with something other than a good or bad.

I wound up getting a (Fluke) demo from our cable supplier. It wasn't like a 1200 or 1800. Watered down cheap model to compete with the bye brothers tester.

But did look into renting a unit.
I don't have that info in front of me right now, but when I get back in the office in the morning I will shot it over to you.

I have done a lot of research on testers lately.
And for the money the byte brothers beat eveyone else.

And the reports look better than the cheap Fluke that I demoed.

But do need to keep in mind the difference between testing and certifing.

To get a ture certifier , your going to pay some money from what I have seen.

Oh, forgot to add the rental tester was going to cost almost as much as the byte brothers tester.

But when I get to the office I will send the rental pricing to you.

Thanks,

OK the rental company I have is:

Advanced Test Equipment Corporation
10401 Roselle Street
San Diego CA,92121-1503
800.404.2832
www.atecorp.com

And what they quoted me was a Fluke 1800 for one week for almost $400.00.

Hope this helps,

Mike,

Thanks for the info. The Byte Brothers unit is interesting. I wonder if some companies would reject the tests from this device since it is not a true certifier.

Bill

My info is about ten years old but we used to get test gear rentals from GE. 1 (800) GE RENTS.

That's how I remember it. Testers for copper and fiber as well as fiber splicers.

KLD wink

Dang 400 for a tool rental. I am in the wrong business billybob pm me about the tester we might be able to work something out. I have a microtest and a fluke and a wavtec/lantec, I think I can spare one for a while.
