I need to terminate a 25pair Cat3 cable into two patch panels. Since there are so many wires, is there some trick or method to make sure you're putting them in the same order on both panels? It seems like it would be hard to do it based on color because there are so many. Is there maybe a tool that you can connect to each end to make sure it's the same wire, but without having to terminate it onto anything? Or some kind of method to make sure it's done right?

All you have to do is keep the pairs twisted and maintain the same color code at each end of the cable. I assume that you are terminating a 25 pair cable at each end with a patch panel.

If you are doing something different, then just let us know and we can give you better guidance.

I assume that this cable termination is for voice grade circuits, not data, since it is CAT3. If so, then not all pairs (jack pairs) need be terminated so you might be able to stretch the capacity of the cable.
