Can you post any pictures of how this wire was ran/terminated? That would give us a better idea.

Maybe those IP camera are not looking so bad now since I would just need 1 Cat 6 cable and very small switch in the other rooms instead of additional cables.
Thanks. You can run standard cameras over a cat5 line using the proper baulan. Also as merritt stated depending on your cabel rating you ma be able to run it off the exsisting 25 pair..

I guess this house had a 1a2 system? Very unusual, especially in condiut, is it plastic or EMT?

Why not stick a 6-port X 8-wire "harmonica" on each 25-pair? Then you can try to use your old 25-pair CAT3 cable for data (ethernet), but you would be limited to 10 megabits per second on your network. You could also get the baluns that run power and coax from just one port of your harmonica, and still have 4 ports left over. I am assuming that the 25-pair has a 50-pin amphenol type connector on it. That would enable you to get video and power to your cameras. Although I can empathize with those that say pull out the 25-pair and pull in CAT5E. I have done that plenty of times and it's a lot easier going out of the conduit than going in.

BFDATAcom has the right Idea. If these runs are not to long it just might work ok.
