I'm sure the telcom guys know what you mean, and those of us who do wiring for both telcom & data know what you mean. And your correct about the pair configuration. In my telcom world, I use the right jack for the application. The kind of hack job being described here is not (in my opinion) what this forum should be about. I don't mean to offend anyone, but this is not an adequate facility to run a cabling clinic. Even if in the end it all works, it's still ugly. Please do yourself a favor and have it done right the first time, watch if you want to learn how.

An RJ11 is a one-pair circuit anyway, so the second pair wouldn't even come into play, regardless of the jack used or how it is wired. Pins 4/5 are the only ones used with an 8P8C connector wired as an RJ11. There's never a second pair involved with an RJ11 configuration. Sorry.

Thanks so much for the help, John. It turns out that I have a friend of a friend who works in telco and he told me he'd fix my mess.
Actually, I work in graphic design and jewelry design is more of a hobby (though, I do make a little money from it). Nevertheless, I do know what you're saying about loosing a sell and you're right.
Thanks again! -Brandon

Joe --- No trees were harmed as a result of this posting; however, many electrons were severely inconvenienced.

Something you might want the FoF to do. Ask him or her to install a DSL filter in the location where the pictures were taken. If the filter is installed there then the DSL frequency can be delivered on its own private pair (of wires) to the desired location of the DSL modem and dial tone will be delivered to its proper locations. This will eliminate the need for a filter in all locations through the business. The FoF should understand what I am referring to.
