Does anyone know what happened to commscope cross connect wire? My Graybar rep said that its no longer sold. I am now getting general wire which I'm not really happy with.

Yeah, we had a discussion on the quality of cross connect wire a while back. You'll definitely need to go with General Cable and specify that you want "F" cross connect wire in order to get wire of comparable quality.
I don't know what happened to the Commscope wire, but they took over the Systemax product line from Avaya and a few products bounced back and forth between them for some time. Perhaps it is back to being marketed under the Avaya name again?

Interesting. Just looked at their site and didn't find any info about it. I have always used General cross connect...you have to get the Type F wire. It is twisted much tighter so it does not fall apart. Jeff

Jeff (and others): my Graybar rep told me a while back that Graybar was not "actively" carrying Commscope cable any longer. Left me with the impression that it was still available specdial order. For what it's worth. Bill

If anybody has questions about CommScope/Uniprise materials, please send me a PM.
We are a large CommScope distributor and have a decent amount of stock in a few of our warehouses.

Does this mean that Graybar will no longer sell Systimax products once the existing stock is gone?

Thanks for all the info. I will try to order the F type wire. I have been getting the regular general cross connect wire and I am NOT happy with it. The issues were that it would untwist alot. Also the wire is spolled right to the edge of the spool. It comes off the spool real easily. The first 200 feet of the wire is a real pain, almost unusable.

I agree. I got 4 spools of General cross connect on ebay several years ago. I really don't use it anymore, since I now have the F type...it makes the backboards look a lot nicer.

It's funny but we just came back with the General Cable cross connect and I took it right back to Graybar and asked about the CommScope. He told me what all of you already know. How do I know what the F type part # is for the General stuff? We use a 2-pair plus tracer. General cable part #FPT2.5P24BL/W-O/W/G-SGCC. Thanks for any help.
