Apparently that's what it is, the DEMARC is in the first building and the remote unit was installed next to it. That is considered the T1 DEMARC. Any wiring before it would be the responsibility of the LEC so naturally they will not want to run it through the customer's premises.
Only way I can see to get it moved is if there is another LEC DEMARC in the second building where the T1 can be moved to and the remote unit installed next to it.

Or install your own repeater on your side of the NIU. In my part of the industry we run T1 repeaters quite often, especially at temporary sites. The Adtran T200 series would be right up your alley.

I worked for the local telco for 10yrs and I can believe no one wants to move it. Most techs don't care and the data guys are lazier than most:)
If it's important to you to have it moved call the telephone company and ask to have the demarcation point extended. This will cost you extra money but they will move it if you place the order as such.

CheatinChad.
It is not that any of us wouldn't move the demarc. Its the fact that if you are not experienced with T1's then it is best to have the telco move it. They are responsible for it anyway. Extending a demarc is not a problem for most but if you do not verify the levels then you will have errors. BPV, CRC's, Etc.
This is a place for information. We are here to help people with questions. We give idea's of things to check verify and do. Before you do anything. That is what we have done for MAARON. Just because you have worked for a telco. So have I. Maaron probably has not. I do not know for sure. The information we gave was what was best for his situation.

I don't know where you guys aren't moving demarcs, but we do it in malls all the time and the distance is greater than 100 feet. Get the proper RJ-48S jack for starters, Graybar sells whatever brand they sell (Plant?) something for a few bucks that have the shorting bars 1-4 and 2-5.
On the smartjack end, you use a standard 568B wired jack and straight through patch cord, and on the customer end, you wire the 48S in 568b (54123478) order.
We have left buildings in conduit, like the mall's theater and the operating company refused, or didn't care, to move the demarc.

That, to me, sounds like you're extending the DEMARC not moving it. Not sure I understand you wiring sequence

Which was what the original poster wanted to do. Last time I checked, T1-s Tranmit and receive are on 12 and 45 so you provide a jack that loops those pair back when you unplug it. Now 56K Frame Relay lines use 12 and 78.
We just ran into a mall situation today where we're going to have to extend both the exchange and frame relay about 500 feet from building entrance to sub closet to customer space. And the customer absolutely wants Cat 5e for the data extension. Sigh. It looks like the shop vac is going to have a tough time sucking the speed line through the tube because there are about 3 junction boxes along the way :-).

The original post was in February, which I'm sure has been resolved. You're the one that stated moving the DEMARC, I'm fully aware of the pins used in T-1 installation and the shorting bars. This (54123478) is what I have no idea of what you are trying to say.
