In several installs, I have seen a cable used that I am unsure of. It is usually between the demarc and smartjack. One pair, unshielded, red jacket and orange/white conductors. Looks to be 22 gauge.
Wondering if anyone knows what it is.

That is the cable that goes from the demarc to the smartjack...feeding the T1 circuit.

Looks like they're just using it from the trans and rec of the t-1 circuit. Two sheaths to keep signal from bleeding, instead of a shield between the pairs. Your single pair through me.

I have seen it. I don't know the manufacturer. It is 1.5 mb cable. It is acctually rated for t1 only. 22 gauge red jacket looks like fire rated cable. Not sure if it is or not. One company I know was using it and the were paying about twice as much as a box of cat 5 for it.

Exactly...I even emailed one of the cabling sales reps I use and he did not know of it...
