Good morning
got an old comdial dxp trying to change night ringing on off time .
1. can I use lap top with pro-com or do you need comdial special software
2. is it possible to program from attendant phone if above isnt possible

Most of the old DXPs were manual on and off night service. Some features can be programmed from the attendant set but most require a laptop. Whether or not you need proprietary software depends on the software release level.

Think you are going to need a laptop. this one has auto night turned on in system parameters on 5pm off 7am wanted to change it to off 7:30 tried my laptop on rs232 port b since port a is interfaced to voice-mail system ,could not get in to programming , some of comdials you can program from attendant just cant find the way in the manual

Ah ha...Does the voice mail always answer with AA day and night? If so your issue isn't in the DXP. It's in the voice mail.

The DXP can not be programmed thru phone except for system speed dials, time etc. You need to connect laptop. What version software are you running on DXP. Without that info we can not help you.

Use ProComm it will connect no matter the SW version. You will have to play around with baud rate thats all. Use COM port 1 to get in

You can't use Procomm on post Rls 13 Common Code as Comdial eliminated the shell menu... Must use VMMI unless you can get into Blackbox.
