A number of months ago, I stumbled upon this forum while Googling the phrase "odd pic color code." There was a thread-bare thread about it, but more questions than answers.
Now I can return the favor, as the circle is completed. I just dug up some old splicing tools and other stuff, and in the pile was a splicer's odd-pic "board" (a piece of paper, printed with the color code, and punched with holes through which a splicer would pass the pairs of wires during the splicing operation.)
If anyone wants the info for historical purposes, contact me privately.
