Sorry for the split post but had a distraction. Untwisted too much at connector, cable ties too tight, over pulled cable, external noise, cable length too short, short cable with a connection problem, Something has distorted the twist at some point or split pair.

Are you using Multiple 4 line phones. That will do it too.
Kytiedown's suggestions are more geared towards DATA and should not pose problems using it as voice.

You are correct my statement was geared toward data more than voice.

Hi all,
Sorry to not have gotten back. Well so far we have had no complaints from the customer. The Telus tech said that he can hear the toner on other pairs when he put his tone say on white blue/blue pair after installing the cross connects from out bix to the PBX. We used Bix1A for the terminations in the data room and Nordex jacks on the other. All was connected with Beldon white cat5E cable.
It is interesting to see that putting on cable ties to tight would cause this. I imagine it would deform the twist in the cable which would change its impedance characteristics.

My best bet.....the jerk was inexperienced with BIX. Of course you're going to hear it "somewhat" when you're getting close to the pair. Especially in a noisy enviroment, it can get hard to tell exactly which pair. In that case, I'll pull out the BIX17 probe and by attaching it pair by pair, I can tell exactly which pin has the pair that I'm looking for.

For your own interest go to one of your other sites and try the same thing with a toner and see if you cross talk across the pairs. Is there a problem, are the telephones working fine? Is the Telus tech a newbie??

It's not unusual for tone to "bleed" a little. Most tones put out at least +7db usually more, that's quite a bit when you consider voice is 0db on most equipment. I'll bet they only hear it with their buttset in monitor.
Edit: To correct a couple typo's.
