I don't think CAT7 has been around long enough for it to be widely available.
The customer's application is beyond CAT6A?

Cat 7 is NOT HERE YET. The spec for Cat 7 has not yet been defined. You can buy what the vendors "think" cat 7 will be, but that doesn't mean that when the EIA/TIA finally agree on it that what you got will be it. You can buy Level F cable (I think it's called Level - it's definitely "F") - that's the equivalent European standard, but it's not Cat 7. It probably will be, but as of right now it isn't. If you must install something, I would recommend talking to Siemon's( www.siemon.com).They seem to have the best handle on this. Sam

Usually when someone is asking for CAT7, they're referring to ISO/IEC 11801 Class F cable rated for transmission frequencies up to 600MHz. Supposedly it's good for 10 gigabit out 100 meters and I understand they've gotten 100 gigabit to work on shorter runs.
If I were you, I'd sit down with the client and talk about expectations, ROI, etc.. More than likely, he read about it in a trade journal somewhere and thinks it's a good idea for future-proofing. Meanwhile, CAT6a has yet to be ratified and I think they're still looking at 2012 or later for "CAT7".
If that doesn't work, he's probably hitting the pipe and should be left alone. I've chased customers like that before and lived to regret it.

We have a customer who had the same "future-proof" idea and ran fiber to every work station. They did (we didn't do the job), and to this day it's unused, except for 1 feeder from the server room to a feeder rack.
It alway sounds like a great idea, but it's so far from actually happening, that there isn't any benefit of it. Do a cost effective structured Cat5e/cat6 system, or be prepared for major over-payment.

"It would be cheaper" (explain to him when he sobers up) to run a 3/4" PVC or EMT conduit to each location, (from the dropped ceiling down to each outlet, or...in the absence of a dropped ceiling... from each work station to the MDF) and install cat 5e.
Then, when his imaginary friends show up with a real reason to use imaginary Cat-whatever, you can be a hero, and pull it right in.

Everybody, thanks a bunch for reply. I explained all of it to that client and I told him that he is probably never gonna use 10 Gig on his Network but guy is confident that CAT7 will give'm peace in mind for many years ahead. He is a good guy, not cheap and I don't want to loose'm but I'm trying to convince him not to spend more then he needs to.
