Sam, you know just as much as all us other knowledgeable guys that were too expensive to keep around. We got cut loose and replaced by 2 guys, that call us on-the-sly with questions. We help them because they were/are friends. Or, we feel sorry for them. Or the customer holding the short end of the stick. OR, maybe we tell them to ask their present boss, who has the shutzpa to call us and ask the question. At that point we can negotiate a consultation fee. Who me, burned? NA, never happen. MUCH! Jim, I detect a touch of bitterness, somewhat like mine! John C.

I've extended T-1 feeds (cat5) of over 250' with no errors detected - 50' with errors?
Normally when we extend T-1s we use "T-1" sheilded specialty cable from Graybar that has individual shields for s/receive.
Sometimes CAT6 if handy.
MANY TIMES use the 25-pair shared feed because in a lot of cases that is the only option available.

Correction - those were Shielded/Belden runs; individually sheilded pairs - sorry.
If using Cat5 on extended runs, break up the send and receive on separate cables, ie, one T-1 feed = two cables.
