I have a new room and wired three phone jacks in the room with 6-wire phone wire (realized I should have probably used cat5 AFTER I had the drywall hung and mudded). Anyway, each line is using the 6-wire Phillips wire I got at Lowe's, and is a home run from the room to the inside wall of where the NID is located.

I got a old 66 block from the network admin at work, and was wondering how to connect each run of the phone line to the block for voice. Also, how do I connect the 66 block to the NID?

"6-wire Phillips wire" is probably not intended for telephone service. Does it say "Cat 3" on it? What colors are the individual conductors?

On a similar note, maybe you can tell me what to do about this pain I have in my right lower jaw. I don't want to spend a lot on a dentist (you know how expensive they are). I have some pain pills that I have left over from knee surgery a few years back. The pills are light blue, and about a quarter inch in diameter. Should I use them?

The wire that you used is probably not the best thing, but it will be just fine for voice use. CAT5 would have been gross overkill. You will be OK with what you have.

The wire will work fine. It's not what I or a lot of professionals would use, but it'll work. This is similar to what was used in Residential dwellings all through the'50s and '60s. Red & Green (Christmas colors) were traditionally used for Dial Tone.

If it's solid wire you can punch it down on a 66 block. If it's stranded you can't and will have to look at a barrier strip or something similar.

Remember that everything is wired in parallel. Loop enough terminals to give you plenty of places to terminate your cables (plus enough for future expansion).

You'll do fine.

Arthur - the only light blue pills I know are Viagra. They don't seem to help with toothaches but who cares? I recommend them for everything.

Not really worth the cost. A friend tried them once and said that for 15 minute difference from 3 1/2 hrs without the pill to 3 3/4 hours with the pill wasn't worth it. Yeah right.

A couple wire nuts. Might as well go all the way.
