Is there anyway to assign a numerical key to access an outside line on an IDS 42? (eg, dialing 9 to access a line pool). Some people in the office here just have trouble pusing a CO button.

O.K., Forgive me but my IDS manual is a little out of date and I'm not a dealer anymore. There is an option on the bigger systems to do this .It is on the M screen system options and is called alternate dialing. If set to yes, dialling 9 accesses trunk group 1 and 8 accesses group 8.You cannot dial access lines using this or other groups. There are other restrictions too.Check this screen to see if the option is available to do this.If not,to dial access a group it is a 4 digit code 93 + the 2 digit trunk group (01-10) for digital sets and 91-90 for single line sets. Hope that helps you out.If alternate dialling is not available to you, then it's easier to push an outside line button than dial a code.
