As there are alot of different brands/models of

toners out there. i have been reading about a

few, but i thought who better to ask than the

ppl using them every day. So what toner do yawl

think is best. I mostly do alot of trouble

shooting so that means working with patch panels

and alot of hard to find ( lots of bleed over

with tones) cables. I was looking at the Fluke

Intellitone 200 Kit. Does anyone have good/bad

experience with this toner?? Thanks in advance,

Look for a cable tester that has a tone generating capabilities and also will give you option on pair selections for sending tone. Most of the switches dont have pair 4,5 and 7,8 hot.
You can send a tone over that.
If you working in envirenment where you can disconnect an extension or data port for a while get Harris toner that changes tone after you short pair. This will help you checking the health of a pair since you might get a tone if cable has a screw go through.
Good rule of thumb- get two toners described and you will be a champion.

For on-line working cables to hub/ router or patch panels, I just got a free demo kit from Mitsubishi, it gives you a red light on the cable you want to trace/find, seems to work so far, you can go to patchsee.com look at the demo and then go to free sample then click on "get a demonstration kit, they send you a demo tool with the cat-5e patch cord to test and play with
