Building Entrance Protector. The CPE (customer provided equipment) side would have a block with the pair count on it. One wire per clip, so that block would would handle 24 pair.

Well, here\'s the block. Solves part of the mystery but don't ask me why it was done that way. Sounds like B and C was not designed for wiring, only bridge clips. -Hal

Wow, that block design makes absolutely no sense to me either. I can only assume that they were designed for some strange scenario where tip is on the left and ring is on the right as opposed to standard vertical block layouts. Perhaps a Canadian thing? :rofl:
By the way: Anybody interested in some of those 66E3-25 blocks? I'm sitting on about 200 of them and willing to make a deal.

Somehow I knew that block was Reltec/Marconi, but when I did a search, Marconi redirected to Ericsson. When did they sell to Emerson? Gotta love this biz!

I agree with 1864, get a block that you will likely see in the real world to learn with. Once you do that, what we are talking about will be clear.

Ed, the description says:
For 6-pair applications the network cable can be terminated on column A and customer
premise cable terminated on column D. The circuit is closed by installing either bridging
clips over or jumper wires between columns B and C. The bridge clip or jumper may
then be removed, disconnecting the circuit, for testing.
But why turn the clips around??
