I have an IDS 42 system (configured 4x8) which keeps disconnecting people. When the longwinded users are engaged in conversation usually (but not always) longer than 20 minutes, the system will disconnect them and reset to dialtone within 3 or so seconds. I have put a fan on the power supply thinking it may be due to overheating but that didn't help. Anyone encounter this before?
Thanks.

These are just regular in or outgoing calls right? The only option I remember off the top of my head is a divert limit timer, but that affects calls that are diverted by a phone outside the system using a system speed dial.Beleive that timer is on the B? screen under various. That should not affect regular calls though. Is the problem on a specific line or user?

The devirt limit also effects conference calls.

JJ,
You're right it affects conference calls but only unsupervised conference calls as I remember.
As for the power supply,if it was the problem, the whole switch would reset, not just the trunk calls.I am under the impression that this is not the case?

Correct, these are not conference calls. As far as I know the KSU does not completely reset, only the line. Its looking like either a wiring or station problem maybe?

Drewt,
I think you need to isolate the problem to either a specific station(s) or trunk(s).At that point you can start swapping things to further isolate the problem by switching phones, station ports or trunk ports. It would also be to your advantage to find out if the whole system resets when this happens or just the station/trunk port.Check the affected station for a display message of Line Released when this happens, this is the system dropping a call because of line noise tripping the drop pulse timer. On the M screen, there is an option the "system will drop a line under the following conditions " check the setting for Talk.
