I know in CA I have never seen FA wiring in conduit. They just run it wherevr they want to. One guy told me he just comes in after the low voltage contractors and follows their runs.

Local addendum to the NEC in most jurisdictions in these parts don't even allow us to share a sleeve through a wall or floor with any kind of alarm wiring. It infuriates me when I see a 4" sleeve with one dinky little 18/2 alarm wire in it.
I guess those "high voltage digital signals that blow out modems connected to PBX lines" might interfere with the operation of the alarm system.
Are they really that stupid to think that we won't be blasting through those sleeves or conduits the minute that the inspector leaves?
Dumb is dumb, but stupid is even worse.
