Personally, I don't think the labor between cat5 and 6 is much of a difference.

I would suggest doing a quote of both.

I remember the days that 10mbs was really fast on a hub, now its 1 gig with QoS.

If the overall cost is not much more then the customer may decide to Future proof.

At a bare minimum 2 cables per drop, (account for a fax or a second phone/comp.) I would recommend 4 cables though.

Make them all the same cable. It makes life that much easier in the future. The only reason why I like pulling in a Cat3 and a Cat5 together is because it is easier to put the cat 3 on 66-blocks (although I am getting some cat3 that looks like the same twist as cat 5). There is absolutley no sense in pulling in 2 different types of data cables. (that goes for color as well).

Patch Panel everything. If you end up having to split a voice in the futere, run a new cable. NO jury rigging the back of Patch Panels.

Also interested in the inserts mentioned.

On a side note. If you pull in multiple cable to one location, how do you lable them? 1a 1b 1c, or 1, 2, 3? I prefer the latter.

Might just be me, but I find cat6 much more labor intensive to punch down that cat5e. We have been using 1 cat5e for voice 1 cat6 for data at desks in hotels, and different colors to make it easy at a glance to see what is what (voice to 110 blocks, data to panels).

We use 1a, 1b, etc for multiple runs to the same box or room, it makes it easier for us to keep a numbering scheme common to room #s when suites, doubles and ADA rooms come into play.

The question is more important than the answer.
