I am working in a guys hotel right now. He tells me that people are stealing his phones. What I am thinking of doing is just getting rid of the jacks and just making it one continuous line. Is there a way to make the line go into the phone without soldering the line into the phone? Hmmmmm.... I suppose I could just glue the jack into the phone.... What do you think?

this motel is old and brick... if there were cockroaches up here they would be living there happily. The existing cable is ugly. I think it was added in after the place was built

I think it's a scary place that the "guests" steal the phones. A motel room phone is nothing to write home about and the credit card or deposit should cover theft of amenities.

You can cut the tab of a modular cord to keep it from being removed without a paper clip or nose pick. Perhaps it's time to set a few 2500 phones with no features in sand beige :-)

Depends on the phone. With a 2554 wall phone you can easily screw the phone to the wall and hardwire the cable right to the network of the phone.

I said "IN a motel room"...wasn't talking about elevators, etc.

I knew that, hence the ;-). We tried to put wall phones in a villa that, on paper, looked good. Too bad the idiots lowered the soffit 9 inches without telling anyone and the top of the wall plate ended up under the kitchen cabinets (actually, I had to trim the tops to set the screws).

Some of the extended stays have wall phones in suites.

Crl, how much of the tab should I cut> Just enough to make it flush or a little more? Perhaps half of the tab should be removed? Let me know.

It's about 1/2. IIRC some of them actually have a little mark on them. It works out that it's pretty close to flush.
