Since my truck was broken in, my toner was stolen along with other gear. It was a older fluke toner blue in color. Technology has changed and want to get recommends for a really good toner to buy. Looking at fluke, but also others. I heard there was some complaints on some of the fluke toner lines that pickup stray alarm signals and not the actual tone. Can some one recommend a really good tone that I can purchase?
Also, I may want to consider a link runner. Those are great units but wow, pricey little units. May want to find one on craig's list.

I have had no problems with my Progressive (now Tempo) toner/probe...been using the same kit for years. Aines toners are also very good...what the phone co uses here, I think.

Cant go wrong with Tempo. Ive had one of my 77HPs for around 10 years now. Same thing with my probes.

I like my Tempo toner. The only time I use my Fluke toner is when I know for sure the cable is patched into a switch.

I really like Fluke's Pro3000 toner. The tone changes when you short the pair, lets you know for sure if you've got the right pair and continuity.
Plus the wand is narrow enough to fit into my Klein pouch without taking up too much room.
I have two of these toners, sometimes use them both with one set to a different tone to distinguish between pairs...

I got so burned on the Intellitone 200 that I'd be hard pressed to buy the 3000 even if it was less than the Tempo. Fortunately, when Home Dumpo closed some stores in our area, I picked up the 77HP's for about $15 each :-)

I recently upgraded my 77HP to bed of nails clips and am reasonably happy to use it forever but I also need to find something to better tone active networks. A Tempo AT8LK is pretty high in my list right now because of the hub blink feature and built in banjo.

The Intellitone has a funny noise when it finds the digital signal. It also has a confidence tune it plays when you first turn it on. In mine, it kept playing that tune just about every time you touched it. Maybe something was broken, maybe it never worked, I don't know. It's in the bottom of my old toolbag sitting on a shelf.
