I just got a 84 ...came with a CRT. I hooked up my laptop to the RJ45 progr.port -hit escape-nothing...reset system and get the password page...hit escape..nothing..frozen... CNTRL P ...nothing. Plugged into the CRT- RJ45...same thing. Haven't tried the CRT yet.. Is there a jumper set for the CRT that somehow isn't allowing me to log in with a regular pc?

If all else fails, use a BFH.

The CRT will have a diferent pinout I believe than the PC.If you get the screen and pressing escape doesn't do anything then it sounds like your Tx and the 84's Rx line are not connected properly.Try the CRT like you sugeested.

After resetting and a failed attempt to get the CRT to come up....I went back to try to get into programming and IT WORKED!....I guess it needed to be "tweaked" around with before it would come up.....funny thing...I put in another 22350 (CPU) and it wouldn't come up...this one wouldn't come up after multiple trys.. faulty backplane (motherboard)?????
